    13B-RE Powered 1988 Mazda RX-7

i had a shop recently do a 13b-re  motor swap with a large single turbo. motor was taken from a 95 Twin Turbo Cosmo sold only in Japan. Motor is stronger than that of the FD motors sold anywhere and cheaper. Motor was rebuilt, street ported, removed exhaust sleeves and replace bearings with FD Stationary Bearings. Motor isn't tuned yet due to fuel problems i'm having (voltage droppff?) Will be selling these Walbro's i have in The tank since they only have 500 Miles on em, and i have two other Walbro GSL 392 Inline Fuel Pumps i'm selling to get an Aeromotive A1000 Inline Fuel Pump. Pix can be viewed on my  Cardomain Site. There's the 95 S14SE that i'm going to do the VQ35DE Swap on. http://www.cardomain.com/id/whodiddy

the 13B-RE (2 Rotor) and 20B (3 Rotor) are both Cosmo Motors and only came Twin Turbo'd and with Automatic Transmissions. I'd like to do a 13B based 26B (4 Rotor) but the eccentric shaft is $9,000+.

    Re: 13B-RE Powered 1988 Mazda RX-7

    $9K???!!!

http://members.tripod.com/~grannys/4rotorcoupling.html (I have some more files on my old computer as well about merging the two engines together. I'll dig them up one day).

My early 'discoveries' of that project prompted some research and showed that his rotor phasing resulted in 2 rotors firing at the same time (180deg phasing). A quick (read: unrefined & undeveloped) comparison of resultant force (a brute way of representing hp) between the two configurations seems to favor a 90deg phasing... (~20% increase in resultant force). Many factors were overlooked in that analysis and the interpretation of the results also lacked refinement. There are also stress factors involved with the 90deg phasing that weren't investigated.

If anybody feels like taking up where I left off, I have [integrated] Working Model 2D and MathCAD files available. I'll just have to dig them up and u'll just have to build me one after u get the engine running right Big Smile [:D].

I lost interest when I read the SAE paper about the renesis...

Argh... guess I'll stick w/ the plan...

yes this site has been great help. my friend has the magazine with fred's swap in it and it' nicer to read on paper than monitor. hopefully i'll have my swap started on by the beginning of next year.

    Re: 13B-RE Powered 1988 Mazda RX-7

Wasn't there a four-rotor powered 3G in Super Street like a year or two back? I could swear. All custom body work, and it made something mad like 5-600hp NA?

    S13 Fastback...putting the chassis together.

    Suspension before power!
