yes it definatly does ive seen them with my own eyes.

so i should be on the lookout for a pair of 350z heads?

News to me.  This would definitely be an interesting combo.  The quench area problem would still have to be considered though.

ahhh ok so not as simple as staight bolt on then,

i wasnt surprised to see the squirters at all, every factory turbo engine nissan makes has them so why would the VQ30DET be any different?

bore the DET out to 3.2 liters and you shouldn't have a problem...plus then you can have VTC...My new plan is to get a VQ35 and de-stroke it.

    S13 Fastback...putting the chassis together.

That would probably fix the overlap.  But the stock block/sleeves wouldn't be able take a bore that big reliably.

    Re: VQ35DE swap into 1995 240sx

You dont bore the VQ30 block out to get 3.2L, you put VQ30 crank and rods into a VQ35. I dont think a VQ30 could take that over bore. It might but it would be very weak for boost.

And yes 3.5L heads bolt onto a 3L. Tilly or SR20DEN from maxima.org did it for a boosted setup and maybe even mardigrasmax**. The quench isnt as good, but those guys were running lots of power on other wise stock engines so it must work. Im really considering this setup in my s13. Id prefer a VQ32 tho (destroked 3.5L)

And no you wont have VTC w/o lots of custom work. Theres no oil passages to feed the VTC's so they wont work. Thats putting 3.5L heads on a 3L block. Another plus for the VQ32.

**For those of you not on the org, these are the pioneers running 11's and 12's in maximas and in the 400-500WHP range. Thats mainly a guess right now since  they don't have dynos and havn't run the 1/4 lately. Work in progess you know...

    Re: VQ35DE swap into 1995 240sx

no you would not bore out a 3.0 to 3.2 you would just use the 3.5 crank, custom rods and 1.5 oversized pistons

    What is the quench area?

    Re: VQ35DE swap into 1995 240sx

quench is where the pistons almost touch the head [around the parimeter of the combustion chamber] to squeeze the air/fuel mixture towards the spark plug

Sorry for the incorrect info, I didn't know about the VTC oil passages. And as far as De-stroking, that's what I was saying. VQ32 for me, eventually.

    cool.

    I love this thread.

joined up just to poost up a WOW LOOKS COOL and get some more info, the low cost of the swap intrigues me the most but it certainly isnt a drop-in swap although there dont seem to be any huge hurdles.  awesome work and great info and pics, very cool stuff.

so last night, we put the VQ35DE that i bought from fred and evrything went in just fine. but...

the drive shaft is like... 1-1.5 inches too short, the passenger exhaust manifold is very very close to the hard break lines

    Re: VQ35DE swap into 1995 240sx

Glad to hear it went fairly smoothly.  Is this into an S13?  Why would the DS be a different length?

    Re: VQ35DE swap into 1995 240sx

I'm going to put in an ABS diff and see what difference that makes. I was told there is a 3/4ths of an inch difference so that would really help out so that way the difference in length wont matter.

    Re: VQ35DE swap into 1995 240sx

    no it doesn't

MS1 can do Coil on Plug
MS2 Can not.... this is what i have learned.
