Finally here my VQ35DE (Project B13)

Well, it's finally here. I received it on Wed. the motor looks beautifully clean on the inside and looks pretty decent on the outside. I will be getting pics of the engine and the car later in the week and will post it up. I have to pickup the tranny as well as other things in the week and I will be taking pics of everything in detail as they arrive and as the progress goes. Wish me luck gang!!

    *Waves picket signs*
"We want blog! We want blog!..."

I'm curious to see how that project turns out as there are multitudes of B13's in my hometown. Could u keep a log book of project cost as well (if possible including stuff like engine mounts, shift linkage axle costs, etc).

If there's anything I can do to help, lemme know.

    Kurt

P.S. Luck is for beginners. May the forces be with u.

Argh... guess I'll stick w/ the plan...

Re: Finally here my VQ35DE (Project B13)

LOL, I will be taking pics of everything!!! I'm not new to the B series chassis, as I've worked on quite a few of them. From SR20DET's, to N/A High comression DE's to SR20VE engines, including one SR20VE-T. I also tune the OEM ecu's for the 91-94 B13 SR20, as well as the 91-94 S13 KA24DE ecu. I will be picking up a Spec V manual 6 spd tranny, a set of axles, the whole shifter assembly, the master clutch cylinder with the clutch pedal from the Spec V and the hubs with the spindles for a pretty good price. The engine mount brackets for a fact have to be completely custom. What I was thinking was using the stock B13 engine mounts (since I can get solid rubber inserts for them through NISMO) with custom made brackets. The only thing that's really holding me back is that I'm waiting for a bell housing that I have on order through Nissan (which is on back order) from a 6 speed 04' Maxima. Take care folks.

    Bettonracing:

You're right about the good luck thing ;). I will definately be keeping a log book of everything.

Just wondering, did you look into using a Maxima crossmember like we talked about on the phone?

    Fred,

I tried finding one locally, but it's very rare to see an A32B model and newer in a junkyard over here. The cheapest one I could find out in the states was $50 plus shipping and when I add to that the cost of the motor mounts, I just don't think that it would be cost effective, since basically making the custom mounts wouldn't cost me a thing except for the cost of the material. Take care.

I know u guys are a US colony but do you guys drive on the left or the right in Puerto Rico? If u drive on the right I know the car'll be LHD but if u drive on the left, is it LHD or RHD (islanders tend to get creative w/ driver's sides)?

We're LHD over here. We get the same exacty (even shitty sometimes) cars that the US gets.

Re: Finally here my VQ35DE (Project B13)

    Ok, so far I have pretty much everything to start the swap. I have the following;

    Engine
    Tranny
    Axles
All of the piping for the clutch
    Clutch Master cylinder
    Slave cylinder
    Clutch pedal
    Shifter with the cables
Spindles with calipers and brake discs

I hope to start the installation in the upcoming weeks (i'm pretty busy with work and until I finish I can't start my project). Pics will be coming pretty soon, my DG broke :(.

    Ok,

So I finally got myself a digital camera. I have a few pics already of the project, it's going pretty slowly right now. But I hope during the Christmas vacation to speed things up alot.

How do I setup an account for pics? TIA.

Cool man, I've been waiting for these, glad to see it coming along.  I'm anxious to see how the axle situation works out as that's the part that I've never had to deal with.  Do you think maxima axle shafts will work with your hubs?
