VQ30DE fly Timing gear for a VQ35DE fly

    As the title says.

Fidanza quoted a VQ30DE flywheel would take over a month to complete so i was tought of asking them for a VQ35DE. The 35DE version would ofcourse need the timing ring, so if someone has one available, please chime in to willem.van.schevikhoven_remove_@race.fi.

I do not recommend this. You will need to weld the timing ring to the 350Z flywheel. Aftermarket flywheels MAY NOT fit in with the VQ30DE timing ring. Even if it does welding steel into aluminum isn't going to work.

Here's what I would do.  Get a Flexplate from a VQ30DE. Mount it on the crank at the front pully. Re-wire and relocate your sensor there. Use any 350Z flywheel you want.

care to upload a pic of your spacer?

Re: VQ30DE fly Timing gear for a VQ35DE fly

My spacer is currently squeezed inbetween the tranny and the engine so taking a pic is not possible at this time. My clutch is still holding up so that i can drive the car normally so im not taking it apart before i have something to put in there.

Mounting the timing gear on the front crank would take up a lot of space and would also need balancing of the pulley. Additionally changing belts would be a nightmare. The stock looks could also be forgotten straight away.

The ad here said that the timingring would fit Fidanza and JWT flywheels. Atleast the rings the guy had cut. Does anyone have one of these rings actually mounted on the flywheel? I'd like to know what is needed in order to make one fit.

I have a spare flexplate to use so i could probably use it so i can figure out the exact location for the ring to fit the 350z wheel.

I just looked at some twinplate carbon clutches for the 350z, those would be ideal for some heavy turbo action ;)

You'll need a table grinder to cut the rings neatly. It is possible to cut them but balancing would be needed. Take it to a macine shop. Cut them, drill them and have it in the same pattern as the removable timing ring on some 350Z flywheels. Then bolt it in.

I got this figured out now.

Use Maxima VQ30DE Flexplate timing ring with 350Z STOCK Flywheel.
They are both welded and must be grinded off and welded again. They are direct fit.

Use Maxima VQ30DE Flywheel timing ring with 350Z AFTER MARKET JWT Flywheel. They are both bolted on and the Maxima ring has to be drilled with new holes.

Below are the pics of 350Z STOCK flywheel and Maxima Flexplate.
